My hopes are so high, that your kiss might kill me. So won’t you kill me, so I die happy.

I can’t quite grasp the fact that we are now in the middle of July already. The month of June seemed to whizz past as it was so packed full of events and people. I was thrown well and truly out of my comfort zone several times, had a couple of panic attacks and I cried in Sainsburys. However, it was spent with the best people, old and new.
June twentysixteen.

week 1
June, week one.
It was my sister, Florence’s nineteenth birthday this month. However, I knew I would be away for the actual day so I made her an Oreo cheese cake before hand to celebrate. My mum always used to make our cakes, so now Floss and I take turns making each others birthday cakes. We continued the early birthday celebrations with her boyfriend Sam and Christopher; going for lunch and then to the pier. My sister has always had an affinity with 2p machines, throwing hideous tantrums as a child once she ran out of coins. So, we thought we should go and play on the machines and get sugary pier food. I am now the proud owner of three plastic dinosaur key rings, and I got a slush puppy, of which I couldn’t finish because it was pure sugar. The Snapchat puppy filter is one of my favourites.

week 2
June, week two.
My very first festival, Download. This consisted of getting up and leaving the house before half-five in the morning. Ouch. Christopher drove us up to the midlands, where we pitched our tent and almost melted in the heat. We had a wander around, I had a panic attack. Friday was the first day of music at Download and we made our way up to the main arena. The heavens opened shortly after we got there and I have never seen rain quite like it. The rain drops were huge and the force it came down at actually took my breath away and washed the entirety of my makeup off. Throughout the weekend the rain didn’t stop, and by Sunday evening we were waiting to see Iron Maiden in a good six inches of slop. I think my first festival experience threw me in at the deep end weather wise. However, I had a great time, not enough sleep and found an appreciation for walking boots I never thought I would have.

week 3
June, week three.
A train selfie, on my way to Christopher’s for his brother’s wedding. This meant that I had to wear a dress and I hadn’t worn one of those in almost twenty years. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, China looked stunning and the bridesmaids were ethereal in their dresses. The groom and groomsmen all looked handsome and smart in their suits, but they may have been a little upstaged by Bella the dog. The reception marquee was delightfully rustic with wild flowers, exposed wood and such tastefully decorated table settings. I met so many lovely people, had many compliments on the colour of my hair and survived an entire day in my dress. Congratulations Richard and China. On the Sunday Christopher and I headed to play some pirate adventure golf and get ice creams (I had an orange sorbet and oh my goodness it was exquisite) before I had to come back home.

week 4
June, week four.
Another selfie, the lighting was good and my makeup was fresh, deal with it. The weekend sunshine took Christopher and I to the marina to meet Kit for a couple of drinks. Looking at boats and blue skies is one of my favourite things, its so calming (although it’s a completely different story if you’re the one on the boat and terrible at mooring. But that’s an anxiety filled story for another day). After a few drinks we headed to the new UV Jurassic mini golf place, I lost out to first place by two points. It was fun but I definitely think they need to expand and make the twelve holes into eighteen as it was over fairly quickly.

June was busy, pushed me more than I usually allow myself to be and exciting. I slept in a tent again after vowing to never do so years ago, had a shower in a space age port-a-shower and didn’t own one piece of clothing that didn’t have mud on. I met some wonderful people and was moved to tears by love. A month in my life I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

I’ll follow you down to the edge of this earth

Hello April, thank you for bringing more blue skies and sunshine. I love the Spring, it is by far my favourite season. The flowers are blooming and the weather has a touch of warmth, a sprinkle of magic dances through the air. My march was filled with lovely people and beautiful skies.

week 1
March, week one.
New bedding came my way when I could no longer resist not owning Purrmaids with all of the pretty seashells on the reverse. Anything remotely seaside related has my immediate attention, I have a nautical heart. I took Christopher to meet Erika and Theo in one of my favourite Pubs. It was so lovely to catch up after not seeing one another for over a year, drinks and conversation flowed, it was wonderful. I saw a recipe online for ‘healthy’ garlic Parmesan chips. They are so easy to make and even better to eat. I also made myself some blue cheese dip. This lunch was magnificent.

week 2
March, week two.
The second week brought me a sore throat and a horrible cold (that is still lingering!), Christopher bought me some Strepsils, and I was very happy to find out that they come in cherry flavour…almost as good as a cherry drop. It had been ages since I had done any nail art, probably almost two years. However I was feeling inspired and tried my hand at some galaxy nails; always a favourite of mine. I don’t think they turned out so badly considering it had been so long. And a selfie, with all the hair for lunch at my favourite seafood place and country drives with my Dad, Nan and Florence.

week 3
March, week three.
Snapchat filters are a guilty pleasure of mine, some of them are just hilarious – like this Kylie Jenner inspired one that makes your lips huge! My new favourite one makes me look like a baby…maybe more on that one next month. I took a trip with the polka-dot weekend bag to see Christopher for the weekend. I was extremely pleased that the train was much quieter this time and I had the Mister Asylum album by Highly Suspect to keep me occupied. We had a great Saturday and topped the day off with watching the ice hockey, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it; even if it did lead to numb hands and feet after three hours of being frozen.

week 4
March, week four.
Sunday ended with the most gorgeous sunset, in one of my favourite places with one of the best people. I had an amazing weekend and the sky showing all of its colours was a magnificent way to top it off. Another selfie, before making my way to the last night I would ever spend at Coleman Avenue. This is where Erika used to live and I spent at least half of my time there for years as a teenager. Erika’s parents had decided to move, so it only felt right to have drinks to say farewell. Such a lovely evening with Erika and Sam, and getting to see my teenage surrogate family again. After four hours of sleep and a mild headache it was time for the Easter egg hunt/quiz at my aunt and uncle’s house. Yes, I am in my midtwenties, no – I will not feel shame for still taking part (compering) an egg hunt that also provides me with family fun and chocolate.

And I kissed him back like an arsonist with a pocketful of matches

Butterflies writhe and flutter in your stomach, heart pounding to a rhythm faster than you agreed. Excitement tingles in your fingertips as your lips brush one anothers for the first time. It’s cold out, or maybe it’s summertime you can’t … Continue reading

Cause I am one step heavy and two steps high, hold it steady with you by my side

A new and shiny year. It’s that time again, the time when I take you through my previous month using the snapshots from my phone. I really enjoy doing this and seeing other peoples blogs/vlogs that do a similar thing.
So, here is January twentysixteen. 1
January, week one.
New years eve was spent at home with Christopher and my family. We let off the last helium balloon and a confetti cannon at midnight for my mum. We are still walking bits of confetti in the house over a month later…now i know why my mum wouldn’t let us use the cannon for years. All the trains were messed up the next day so Christopher ended up staying for another night, we just hung out and watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks, forever a favourite of mine. And of course, what would the week be without a photo of my face?

2
January, week two.
Florence asked me to dye her hair because her roots were coming through. We have a tonne of hair in this family so she always has to buy two tubes that need mixing with peroxide or there just isn’t enough. I am not the neatest when it comes to doing such a job, so I ended up covered in red hair dye. I went to see Christopher this weekend; we live about twoandahalf hours away fro each other. There is a train, a boat and a car journey involved but it’s one of my favourite places on earth. I love cloud and the sky, so sometimes when I’m walking the dog it’s nice to take a moment and capture it.

January, week three.
I was very lucky to receive a MAC voucher for Christmas that allowed me to purchase MAC Diva lipstick. The colour suits any and all skin tones, a warm burgundy toned red, an absolute joy. standard selfie, natural hair. I hadn’t seen Kit since Halloween, so we went for lunch and a catch up. We found the seats in front of the fire (which I had to keep tending to as the staff were not), so cosy on a freezing day. I am obsessed with avocados. I eat one a day usually, this was my breakfast for most of that week – linseed toast, avocado and fresh coriander; delicious.

January, week four.
Christopher was back here for the weekend and we were just on our way to a friends house with my sister and her boyfriend. We had some drinks, played Cards Against Humanity and tried to soothe the computerised baby Laney was assigned from school. A hilarious and fun night. Parcels started arriving in the post for my birthday and I was trying ever so hard not to open them. I did manage to save them for my birthday though, go me! I think this is the only photo I took from the night of my birthdaynightout. I was so busy drinking lychee gin and catching up with friends that I didn’t think to take any. If you live in or near Brighton, I highly recommend The Seven Stars, the drinks were reasonable, the gin was delicious and the DJ was incredible.
And that concludes my first month in a new year. It was a lot of fun and flew past this time.
